Silent auction piece for Sumba...

The remote island of Sumba is one of the poorest islands in the Indonesian Archipelago, yet culturally it is one of the richest, with very strong, ancient traditions.

I used larger then normal beads for this necklace.
I went to the Sumba web site and gave this necklace the colors that made me think of the people and the surroundings of the island itself. I wanted it to be more colorful and chunky.
This necklace comes apart to make 2 separate necklaces and can be worn without the large spotted creme and black cross on the bottom.

keeping it organic...kind of...

I made this bracelet for my friend Trisha.
I love, LOVE, love the color!!
It's made out of a Gin bottle she gave me not to long ago.
I also mixed in some beer bottle, little river stones and a jasper.
It's surprise, I hopes she loves it.

Redeemed...

to make something acceptable or pleasant in spite of its negative qualities or aspects

Ephesians 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins...

Recycled/redeemed glass:
This glass has been a little harder to work with.. kind of stubborn, it takes longer to melt and it's harder to shape.
Somethings are worth the extra effort.

upcycled glass anklets...

These are my new favorites!!
recycled glass anklets, So pretty! I made this one for my friend, Donna She bought it as a birthday gift for Heidi... shhh, don't tell her.
The first one I made like this I listed on Etsy and it sold in just a few hours.
This one is a combination of a gin bottle and a beer bottle and some little pebbbles.
really organic looking.
I have to go make more of these...toodles!

Recycled glass bottles!

I'm lovin' these colors, last week I mixed a few together (gin, beer and water bottles) then made this anklet, listed it on Etsy and it's already sold!
I can hardly wait to spend some more time making beads from my 'new' glass...

FYI.. The gin bottle was a gift from a friend, thanks Trisha!

the perfect wedding...

we went to Santa Barbara for the weekend to celebrate a friends wedding.
The weather was amazing, the wedding was perfect and the food and wine were fabulous, to say the least.

But first, I have to share with you, my most favorite picture from the weekend.
This guy sculpted a sand mermaid and was asking for a dollar if you wanted to take a picture, Well worth it since other people just laid out blankets with signs as to why they wanted you to throw money.

In case you can't read what people wrote on their signs and blankets one says "Why lie? need beer" another says "I know those other guys have bigger blankets, but I'm new at this" and the last one just says "Homeless"
My cynical self wonders about the truth in this but then again, it's a sign of the times...

When we got to the reception I begged a couple of wine bottles (empty) from one of the waiters who was kind enough to accommodate. He looked at me as though a horn was growing out of my head as I told him I wanted to melt the glass and make a keep sake.

Yesenia's Dream Dresses

I made this bracelet for a 'silent auction' that will be held tomorrow night at The Anaheim White House Resturant.
All the procedes from this event will benefit the programs of
Yesenia's Humanitarian Foundation.
I would give you the site address, but I believe it's been hacked into and has a virus. I can tell you it has to do with supplying prom dresses and all the extras that go along with prom for young ladies who wouldn't be able to go because of finances. (in a nut shell)

I can think of a few more reasons...

How about using the bottles to make jewelry?! that's what makes my heart happy!!

Yep, If you've had that empty bottle sitting around collecting dust from your special occasion, you know... Anniversary, That BIG birthday, New years eve (BTW, Dom is coming soon!) why not save the label or have me remove it for you and I'll send it back with your special bracelet or anklet made from the glass??
